Collective Excellence
Viné
Studio Owner and Principle InstructorViné teaches as much by feel as by technique. After 22 years, she has an instinct for what each body needs and how to bring out its best.
Trained through the BASI Comprehensive program and Body Control Pilates, she builds on a solid classical foundation but never stays boxed in by it. She loves weaving strength training into her sessions, believing a strong body is a resilient one. Over the years she has worked with athletes chasing performance, clients rebuilding after injury, and everyone in between.
At the heart of her teaching is the individual. Every body arrives with its own story, and she tailors each session to what that person needs on the day, whether that’s a challenge, a reset, or both. Her goal is simple: for every client to leave feeling strong, grounded, and truly connected to their body.
Clara
Clara is a professional performance artist with a passion for fitness. Her love for dance has given her the opportunity to be trained in multiple dance disciplines including Ballet and Contemporary. Clara’s love for moving the body has also led her to various fitness disciplines such as BarreFitness, HIIT and Pilates.
After graduating with a BA degree in Dance and Drama Clara started to instruct dance and fitness in 2016. She has completed her International Pilates Mat Qualification through BASI Pilates and also holds a qualification in Reformer Pilates.
Through instructing Clara wishes to create a safe space that welcomes all ages and all body types to work towards being a happy and healthy individual. Her classes are fun, upbeat and stress free. She believes that a healthy body facilitates a healthy mind.
Shirley
Shirley’s first experience with Pilates was after an injury and she was instantly drawn to the fact that it was accessible to people of all abilities. Having danced her whole life she was not unfamiliar with movement and exercise but was impressed by how Pilates was able to isolate and activate specific muscles so effectively.
After completing her qualification trough Body Control Pilates and BASI, she has been teaching Pilates since 2014 and enjoys being able to help people feel stronger, healthier and more comfortable in their bodies. Whatever your goals, whether it’s injury prevention, better mobility, strengthening or all of the above, the challenge of creating a class designed for you is what excites Shirley as an instructor.
Kelly
Kelly has always had a passion for movement and fitness from a young age. After graduating from UCT she moved abroad, where she first discovered pilates while living in South Korea. She fell in love with the practice and the ability of movement to transcend languages.
Upon her return to South Africa she trained under Viné at The Movement Collective. Kelly is STOTT PILATES trained, a barre instructor and currently furthering her pilates education.
Kelly’s classes are dynamic with a focus on form and technique. Her classes draw inspiration from her extensive background in various forms of exercise, challenging both the body and mind.
Her aim is to have clients leaving stronger and moving with confidence.
Gilly
Gilly has been practicing Pilates for many years, initially using it for strength & rehabilitation after sports injuries and as a way to prevent future injuries. She quickly fell in love with the way Pilates changed her body, becoming stronger, more mobile and less injury prone. This led to her turning her passion into a career and qualifying in 2021. Gilly is trained in BASI Pilates and is currently continuing to further her Pilates education. She is also certified in Pilates for breast cancer recovery.
Gilly loves helping clients build strength, improve mobility and develop a stronger connection with their bodies, so they can move with confidence in their everyday lives and maintain strength and mobility for years to come. Her experience working alongside a physiotherapist gave her a deeper understanding of the body and the role Pilates can play in injury prevention and supporting long-term movement.
Ray
Ray’s love for Pilates began years ago at The Movement Collective, where she trained under Viné and completely fell in love with the practice. It was here that she discovered a deep appreciation for classical Pilates and that has shaped how she teaches today.
Ray is BASI trained, with a soft spot for the classics done well. Her classes focus on alignment, strength and mindful movement, always honoring the method.
Her aim is to create an inclusive space for everyone and have clients leaving each session feeling accomplished and moving with freedom in their bodies, one mindful repetition at a time.
